Bronuts: Better than Cronuts

Bronuts: Better than Cronuts

Bronuts: Better than Cronuts

It’s been almost a year since the fad of cronuts started. Everyone went crazy about them, but suddenly the fuzz just slowly died down. But no worries, because Bronuts continue to create and serve amazing flavors, with a generous size at a very affordable price!

Lil Bros (PHP 99)

Lil Bros (PHP 99)

For my second try of Bronuts, we ordered Lil Bros, 7 pieces of bite size (it’s still quite big to call bite size though) and chocolate dip. You may also opt to choose for their caramel dip. What I love about Bronuts is the generous size of the food that I think could be shared by two. All flavors are only for PHP 110 while the Lil Bros is just PHP 99.

PMS Bronut (PHP 110)

PMS Bronut (PHP 110)

Ohh, and I also found the perfect bronut that every woman needs, they call it PMS. It really looks something that would make a woman happy on the day that she gets grumpy; and I’ll definitely give it a try soon.

Mad Mark’s Creamery and Good Eats

Kapitolyo, Pasig’s food strip, is known for it’s good eats and awesome finds. One of the most famous restaurants here is Mad Mark’s Creamery and Good Eats; a hole in the wall that serves authentic and affordable steaks and creamy homemade ice cream (well according to the reviews!)

It was my first time to try this restaurant, and when we got there at around 6pm, at my surprise it was a full house. We waited for a few minutes to get a table, but the wait was definitely worth it. We didn’t order their famous steaks because we were quite full since we ate some donuts at Scarsdale, but we got to taste the “underdogs” in their menu.

East meets West (half PHP190)

East meets West (half serving for PHP 190)

I ordered the only pasta dish in their menu: East Meets West Pasta (half), al dante pasta in sweet shiitake mushroom sauce topped with cream dory fish fillet with Cajun sauce (PHP 190). For me, the look was not that appealing, but the taste was an amazing surprise! It reminded me of Yellow Cab’s Charlie Chan pasta, but a sweeter version. For this dish, you can choose either fish or chicken for the topping, but I recommend you to get the fish since it really complements the sauce.

Zing Wings (PHP 170)

Zing Wings (PHP 170)

We also ordered Zing Wings (PHP 170), 4 pcs of wings dipped in their BBQ Cajun sauce. The serving was big and can be shared by 2-3 people.

Half Baked Madagascar (PHP 110)

Half Baked Madagascar (PHP 110)

To top off our Mad Mark’s visit, we ordered two scoops of their famous Half Baked Madagascar (P110). It was a creamy vanilla ice cream with chunks of what I’m not sure of — hmm cookie dough? It was so yummy and creamy and will definitely go back for more!

I haven’t really explored Kapitoloyo’s restaurants, but I’ll surely go back here and maybe next time order their famous steaks.

PS. It’s quite hard to look for a parking space and there are only a few tables, so I recommend to go here on off peak hours so you could really enjoy your visit.

SCARSDALE: THE ARTISANAL COFFEE SHOP

Interior

Third wave coffee shops are all over the Metro; there are the legit ones and some – just trying to be like one. But don’t worry, Scarsdale, located in the heart of Kapitoloyo surely is an Artisanal coffee shop. From the interior and design to their food selections, this place truly serves unique and tasteful dishes. Their coffees are also more affordable compared to commercialized coffee shops.

Artisanal Donuts and Coffee

Artisanal Donuts and Coffee

I’ve only been here twice, and for my second visit, we ordered donuts and coffee (the best combination). The Elvis (PHP 55) is a rich sweet-salty caramel filled doughnut, dipped in dark tasting chocolate and topped with slices of banana. I like this because the combination of flavours is really good. I paired my Elvis with medium Iced Café Mocha (PHP 109), just added a little bit of sugar ‘cause I like my coffee with a hint of sweetness. J ordered the Best Chocolate Donut in Town (PHP 65), a soft holed-donut dipped in dark tasting chocolate and topped with chocolate bits. This is their best seller; and I must say I’ve never tasted any donut like this before! He paired this with medium Iced Café Latte (PHP 99).

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

Also, we got a chance to avail their promo which is 20% off on all SNR card holders if your bill reaches PHP 300. Well, that’s a good deal for me!

Scarsdale PH

So the next time you’re craving for some donuts or just want to have your coffee fix, try to drop by at Scarsdale and try to hang out at what I call the hipster coffee shop.

COMFORT FOOD: Persian Style

Chicken Chelo Kabab and Beef Chelo Kabab

Chicken Chelo Kabab and Beef Chelo Kabab

Ask me about the best Persian restaurant in Manila? I’ll biasedly but proudly say Mister Kabab! I’ve been a fan of Mister Kabab ever since high school; especially its soft, ground, and tasty Special Beef Chelo Kabab served with juicy charred tomatoes, slice of cold butter melting in hot steamed rice and their rich and creamy unlimited yogurt sauce and tasty hot sauce on the side – all for just P180.00 php.

Luckily, they opened their latest branch at Fairview Terraces (just 10 mins. away from my house yehey!) I ordered Special Beef Chelo Kabab and requested for both Kababs to be ground (just because I want it soft) but you could request for tenderloin if you want it to be a little chewy. My guy ordered Special Chicken Chelo Kabab, just to try it and compare to what he says the Persian restaurant that “serves better Kababs” — Uncle Moe’s.

Ground Chicken Chelo Kabab

It was my first time to try their Chicken Chelo Kabab, and I may say it tastes a little bland and Uncle Moe’s Chicken Chelo Kabab tastes better. But when it comes to their Beef Chelo Kabab, Mister Kabab is still the King!

So the next time you want to load your meal up and try some Mediterranean Cuisine, try Mister Kabab ‘cause it’s worth every penny!

Crispy Belly Really Yummy

It’s been a while since I last wrote on my blog(s) — well literally wrote something. And now that I have more time to discover new restos, unique food creations and search for the awesome-st food in the Metro, I’m back to food blogging!

So for my first ever post here at SOLID EATS, here’s one of the latest food discoveries I had as a Fort girl.

Thin strips of pork belly deep fried to its crisp? Only at Mercato Centrale in BGC! This really tasted good along with their home made vinegar. And this definitely represents what my tummy would look like if it was turned into food!

So there, just kept it short as this post is just a sneak peek of what my blog would contain in the couple of months. Expect more mouth watering food porn, random food spots and solid eats!
